About the Foundation
Please visit our interactive Financial and Charitable Planning Web Guide, which features a glossary of terms, a reading room with current literature on planned giving, and a gift calculator.
The Centra Foundation has made a wide range of contributions toward the health care needs of our region. Through your help, the Foundation has sponsored medical screenings, offered health education programs on a variety of topics, funded indigent care and helped needy students pursue nursing careers.
Donations to the Annual Fund enhance and enrich the services, programs, and facilities of Lynchburg General Hospital and Virginia Baptist Hospital in order to assist Centra in meeting and solving community health problems.
We collaborate with physicians in our community to offer frank and informative presentations on various health issues including breast and prostate cancer, heart attack and stroke, women's health, orthopedics, and mental health. We also help sponsor programs for childhood immunizations, teenage parents, and children's bicycle helmet safety.
The Centra Foundation raised $12.5 million to support two major initiatives of Centra with the FOR NOW...FOR THE FUTURE: Centra Prepares for the 21st Century Campaign. A 108 bed, multi-specialty East Tower at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital and the state-of-the-art Centra Alan B. Pearson Regional Cancer Center. These projects required major capital investment and the support of the community to be successful.
